Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business

What is AI in business? How does AI influence businesses? What are the advantages and disadvantages of AI?

In recent years, there has been a lot of talk about artificial intelligence (AI), not only in the field of technology, but also in business and everyday life.

As a result, we can see the tangible advances that AI offers us and that make our lives easier day by day. As an example, we can mention cars that park themselves, virtual assistants in mobile devices that kindly answer any question, personalized attention to customers of different services through chatbots, among others.

Also, within companies, artificial intelligence is used in technological solutions that allow machines to perform complex operations with almost no human intervention. Especially in production processes that can often generate a high risk for the integrity of people.

Other areas where AI is used are in data analysis to detect consumer trends, automation of business processes and research through data analysis for interaction between customers and/or employees.

Within companies, AI can be used as a tool for hiring and recruiting personnel, since it is now possible to perform more exhaustive analysis on the behavior of potential candidates to fill a vacancy by researching their resumes on official sites or also through social networks to detect, analyze or observe the social behavior of candidates for different job offers.

In terms of cyber security, it is used to detect failures or incursions in the systems and to be able to take measures against them, and thus prevent the company from being compromised or breached, either with leakage of sensitive or confidential information, hacking attacks, identity theft, among others.

Unfortunately, we can observe cases where AI is taking much relevance, but to the detriment of the population, since everyday thousands of jobs are lost in companies where automated processes are being implemented by means of AI, which previously could only be performed by a human being.

As an example, we can mention some of them:

  • Graphic and web designers

  • Writers

  • Accountants and Auditors

  • Mathematicians

  • Financial Analysts

In this regard, we could mention the case where the AI developed by OpenAI, which is a tool called ChatGPT, used in a case of a traffic fine appeal trial in the United Kingdom, where a student used the ChatGPT AI for the elaboration of a letter of appeal to the traffic fine that she considered unfair and with the arguments provided by the AI determined the acquittal of the fine. Therefore, it is important to take into consideration that in the not-so-distant future several professions will be displaced and/or affected by these.

Considering the points of view that society could come to have and with the great advances that arise in technology, it is necessary that Artificial Intelligence is looked at with attention, since through it humanity could come to have greater contributions in various fields of science and technology, as well as in the field of medicine, since by using AI in conjunction with technological advances in the area of health, you could get to have a more accurate diagnosis of a disease, as well as for assistance in some specialized surgery or of great difficulty.
